Nature photography We would politely deter guests from hunting with guns but would encourage them to hunt with binoculars and cameras. We think this is much kinder.
Local flora and fauna the area hosts a very rich variety of wildflowers in widely diverse habitats, some species growing nowhere else. Bring that camera.
Beekeeping Colmenar’s heritage is on the doorstep. A local expert will give lectures and demonstrations.
Wine appreciation Andalusia is an interesting wine producing region and Spain is home to some of the best, oldest and well known wines available. Courses are run by local experts.
Olive-oil production The landscape of olive groves is a striking reminder that traditional harvesting methods are still much in use. Learn, taste, bring some home.
Regional cookery We offer informal cookery classes on classic Andalusian cuisine. Fun and filling.
Flamenco dancing and musicianship Get those toes tapping. Andalusian performers run small courses for our guests. Yoga There will be dedicated yoga and meditation weeks as well as bookable sessions for individuals and groups.
Mediterranean gardening We offer informal seminars and talks on how to recreate our gorgeous Persian garden.

Cycling Rent one of our high quality mountain bikes or bring your own. We’ll provide maps and water, you bring the stamina.
Horse-riding Excellent stables nearby with expert local guides to steer you through the stunning terrain.
Swimming The heated swimming pool is 15m x 6 metres and is a constant 1.3m depth.
Beaches Malaga’s are 40 minutes away.
Skiing The mountains of the Sierra Nevada which are an hours’ drive away contain some of the best skiing in Europe.
Touring Colmenar is an easy base from which to explore the coastline from Cadiz to Malaga or the great cities of Andalusia: Granada, Cordoba and Sevilla.
